ESD Engineer
  • Permanent Role – Free On-Site Parking
  • $150k – 180k + superannuation

About the role
The Environmentally Sustainable Design (ESD) Engineer is responsible for supporting our team's commitment to sustainable and environmentally responsible practices, with a primary focus on ensuring our buildings meet and exceed regulatory standards. This position involves managing key aspects of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) policies, as well as facilitating Green Star certifications and government compliance. The ESD Engineer will guide the team through the transition to in-house Green Star certification and actively contributing to the attainment of Green Building Council of Australia (GBCA) accreditation.
 
Duties
 
ESD Planning and Certification:
  • Develop and coordinate reports on Environmentally Sustainable Design (ESD) initiatives, ensuring alignment with legislative and regulatory requirements.
  • Liaise with relevant government bodies and certification agencies for approvals, with a focus on Green Star certifications.
  • Manage the transition to in-house Green Star certification and oversee the accreditation process with the GBCA.
  • Review designs and provide advice to Project Managers on how to improve designs.
  • Attend design meetings as a Greenstar Accredited professional.
  • Drive the incorporation of ESD principles into the design and development of projects, ensuring alignment with organizational sustainability goals.
  • Review NABERS accreditation of projects and submit certifications as required.
  • Coordinate with services engineers, designer, builders though the project manager to ensure Canberra Airports’ Environmental goals are being attained.
  • Review existing buildings and assist in building upgrades and decarbonisation generally through all aspects of all properties as required.
Green Star Accreditation Professional:
  • Obtain and maintain Green Star Accredited Professional status for the team.
  • Stay informed about the latest developments and advancements in sustainable building practices. Check coding of AP invoices in redmap and authorization of payment batches.
ESG Policy and Reporting:
  • Assist the management team as required to ensure accurate and comprehensive reporting on ESG aspects of internal projects.
  • Ensure compliance with all ESG policies and standards set by regulatory bodies.

About you
You will have experience in a similar role with relevant qualifications. You’ll be an excellent communicator, thrive in highly collaborative environments and at ease with fostering internal and external relationships from a customer centric viewpoint.
  • Excellent verbal and written communicator
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
  • ACTmapi and any other software programs needed for planning and environmental purposes.
  • Current software as required by Projects
