Job description

The Opportunity 

On behalf of a large Federal Government Agency, we are looking for Freedom of Information Officers at the APS4, APS5 and APS6 levels. This is a 12-month assignment based in Geelong and offer a hybrid arrangement where 2-3 days can be worked from home.
 
You will assist the team in the coordination of Freedom of Information (FOI) requests made to the Agency, and support the Agency meets its legal obligations in relation to the Freedom of Information Act 1982.  The role will assist the team with Participant Information Access (PIA) requests made to the Agency and contribute to the development of the Agency’s information handling requirements.

Responsibilities include; 
  • Assisting and making FOI decisions on complex matters in accordance with the FOI Act.
  • Assisting and making PIA decisions as a PIA delegate.
  • Managing the priorities of clients and available resources to deliver results on time and within budget.
  • Preparing and contributing to a range of documents including briefing material for Ministers. Board papers, media releases, reports to Parliamentary committees, and correspondence.
  • Supporting the development of systems, processes and practical tools including delivering training to support FOI handling and awareness.

  • Previous experience in a similar role
  • Excellent organisation skills with strong attention to detail 
  • Highly developed communication and analytical skills.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills
