Job Title: Government Relations and Stakeholder Engagement Manager

Role Overview: This role is responsible for driving the clients government relations and overseeing its stakeholder engagement function, with a focus on growing and protecting the business’ reputation in alignment with strategic objectives. The role will facilitate strong and effective relationships across all levels of government, be the business’ primary contact for government, represent the client at external meetings, advocate for and implement strategies to influence policy positions and outcomes, and develop stakeholder engagement strategies and establish and maintain related management frameworks.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead a small team responsible for government relations and stakeholder engagement. 
  • Oversee, coordinate and lead the clients engagement with all levels of government, facilitating strong and effective relationships.
  • Provide strategic advice to the Manager Corporate Affairs and Communications, the executive team and the CEO, ensuring they are well briefed on contentious issues and hot topics. 
  • Develop briefing materials for the executive team and for the Minister for Energy’s office. 
  • Attend meetings, advocate for and influence policy positions and outcomes.
  • Develop, implement, and coordinate the clients strategic stakeholder engagement strategy and related frameworks to ensure alignment of approach.
  • Understand the needs and expectations of the business to ensure concerns and risks are addressed and managed appropriately.
  • Coordinate interaction with external stakeholders to ensure consistent and effective communications. 

Essential to be successful in this role:
  • Tertiary, degree level qualifications in politics, public policy, law, economics or a related discipline (mandatory). 
  • Extensive knowledge of government, ministerial and parliamentary protocols and processes.
  • Extensive experience in managing strategic relationships.
  • Knowledge of the WA State Government budget and Cabinet processes.
  • Demonstrated experience in stakeholder relations.
  • Experience in leading and managing a team.
