Job description

About the Role

We are seeking a proactive HSE professional based in Morwell, VIC, to lead, support, or influence Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) systems, policies, and procedures. This role offers full-time hours on an ongoing temporary contract with exposure across both operational and construction environments.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Implementing and continuously improving HSE Management Plans and initiatives.
  • Conducting site inspections and monitoring risks to maintain high safety standards.
  • Reviewing subcontractor and supplier compliance documents and Safe Work Method Statements.
  • Investigating incidents, performing root cause analyses, and recommending corrective actions.
  • Delivering HSE training and building awareness across teams.
  • Supporting Fire Safety, First Aid, and emergency response programs.
  • Conducting risk assessments, EHS audits, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Promoting behaviour-based safety initiatives and cultural change programs.
This role is open to candidates at HSE Officer, Superintendent, or Manager level, providing flexibility for experience and career stage. There is also potential for this position to evolve into a permanent role.

About You
  • Tertiary qualifications in Health, Safety, Environment, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience in an HSE Officer, Superintendent, or Manager role (3–5+ years ideally).
  • Strong knowledge of State and Federal WHS legislation.
  • Proven ability to implement HSE policies and influence teams.
  • Experience managing contractors and ensuring site safety compliance.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and safety management systems.
Desirable attributes:
  • Experience with confined space entry, environmental sampling, and spill response.
  • First Aid, CPR, or confined space safety certification.
  • Ability to coordinate and deliver safety and environmental training programs.
  • Strong documentation, technical oversight, and reporting skills.
