This hands-on role involves vehicle fit-outs, equipment integration, communications systems, and the deployment and support of Automatic Vehicle Location (AVL) systems. The successful candidate will ensure technical solutions meet operational requirements and comply with safety and regulatory standards.

Key Outcomes
  • Maintain electrical and communication systems in government vehicles—including GRN, UHF, VHF, and AVL—by diagnosing faults, repairing, testing, and resolving issues to ensure operational readiness.
  • Install, configure, and maintain AVL systems and other technical assets to support real-time tracking and situational awareness.
  • Deliver high-quality technical support for operational projects, meeting service standards and delivery schedules.
  • Ensure fleet and equipment compliance with Australian Design Rules (ADR), Work Health and Safety (WHS) regulations, and relevant industry standards.
  • Maintain accurate records and technical documentation for all installations and maintenance activities.
  • Provide technical advice and support during project planning, deployment, and post-implementation stages.
Essential Attributes
  • Proven experience in vehicle fit-outs, mobile communications, electrical installations, or equipment integration.
  • Strong knowledge of vehicle battery and wiring systems, including 12-volt electronic integration.
  • Understanding of WHS principles and safe work practices in field and workshop environments.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical faults independently under time constraints.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to liaise with operational staff, volunteers, contractors, and suppliers.
  • Self-motivated, organised, and able to manage competing priorities across regional and metropolitan locations.
  • Proficiency in technical systems and documentation tools.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
Essential Qualifications
  • Certificate IV or higher in a relevant technical trade (e.g. automotive electrical, communications, electronics, or mechanical fields).
  • Construction Industry White Card (desirable).
