Our Client was established 25 years ago as an independent statutory authority that supervises institutions across banking, insurance and superannuation, and is accountable to the Australian Parliament.
 
The Role

Reporting to the Head of Enterprise Security - the Personnel Security Advisor assists with personnel security and staff vetting processes across the Agency and is a key contact for personnel security matters across the enterprise, assisting the Senior Personnel Security Analyst. Key internal stakeholders include all staff and contingent workers undergoing security clearances, as well as People & Culture and IT teams for onboarding of new staff. Key external stakeholders include the Australian Government Security Vetting Agency (AGSVA).
 
The Personal Security Advisor performs the following functions -

Key accountabilities:
  • processing of personnel security clearance applications for employees and contingent workers in accordance with AGSVA requirements.
  • identifying and managing personnel security risks.
  • management reporting and escalation of personnel security issues.
  • contributing to the entity's personnel security program and eligibility and suitability of personnel procedures.
  • monitoring ongoing assessment of personnel, specifically the AGSVA security vetting process.
  • coordinating the personnel security aftercare program for separation of personnel, including withdrawing accesses and information about ongoing security obligations.
  • liaising with external authorities to maintain awareness of personnel risks.
  • assisting with the provision of advice on personnel security, including delivery of awareness and briefings to personnel located or travelling overseas.
 
Knowledge and experience required for effective performance:
  • Must be an Australian citizen with a Baseline Security clearance at a minimum.
  • Experience in personnel security and security clearance and vetting processes.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the AGSVA process and systems.
  • Knowledge and understanding of PSPF Policy requirements is highly regarded.
  • Strong and relationship building skills, with ability to engage staff at all levels across the organisation.
