Job description

Lead Data Platform Administrator 
  • 12-months contract with possible extension
  • ACT, NSW, NT, QLD, SA, TAS, VIC, WA
  • Ability to obtain Negative Vetting Level 1
 
DFP Recruitment is seeking an experienced Lead Data Platform Administrator to join our Government Client team. 
 
Role responsibilities
  • Acts as an expert in the strategic use of data and information management. Provides advice on best practices around data access, security, privacy, and ethics. Serves as the main contact for data management leads in other organisations.
  • Leads the definition and implementation of the organisation’s data governance framework. Ensures compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and contracts. Provides direction and oversight for governance activities, secures necessary resources, and assures stakeholders of effective risk and benefit management.
  • Develops and maintains standards for data protection and disaster recovery. Offers expert guidance on storage management and ensures backup systems meet agreed service levels. Oversees storage services to ensure data is secure, available, and well-managed.
  • Has strong knowledge of administrative data sources and advises on how they can generate insights. Identifies and integrates new data sources, often using custom scripts and code. Stays informed on emerging technologies, including AI, for sourcing and analysing data.
  • Leads the development and communication of information management strategies. Creates organisational policies and processes for records and information management. Ensures compliance with legal and internal requirements, and coordinates data resources to support business goals.
  • Manages incident handling by following agreed procedures. Prioritises and diagnoses issues, investigates causes, and escalates when necessary. Supports resolution and recovery, maintains documentation, and helps improve incident management practices.
 
Skills
  • Data and information management Is an expert resource for implementing and shaping the organisation's strategic use of data and information management good practice and can advise others.
  • Governance Directs the definition, implementation, and monitoring of the governance framework to meet the organisations obligations under regulation, law, or contracts. Provides leadership, direction, and oversight for an organisations governance activity.
  • Storage management Develops standards and guidelines for implementing data protection and disaster recovery functionality for all business applications and business data.
  • Sourcing and use of administrative data Is knowledgeable about multiple sources of administrative data Can advise on how the data has been used to produce new insights Provides expertise to identify new sources of administrative data as well as uses for that data Can write custom scripts and code (programming language) to source and combine administrative data Maintains understanding of new trends and innovations relating to sourcing of administrative data(including Artificial Intelligence-based technologies) and develops capabilities in these where relevant
  • Information management Leads and plans activities to communicate and implement information management strategies and policies.
  • Incident management Ensures that incidents are handled according to agreed procedures. Prioritises and diagnoses incidents. Investigates causes of incidents and seeks resolution. Escalates unresolved incidents. Facilitates recovery, following resolution of incidents.
