EL1 Specialist Advisor – Workforce Integrity & Employment Suitability

Locations: Sydney, Brisbane, Victoria, ACT, Adelaide or Perth (Hybrid)

Our client, a large and purpose-driven Federal Government Agency, is seeking an EL1 Specialist Advisor – Workforce Integrity & Employment Suitability to lead the development and uplift of workforce suitability and integrity frameworks across the employment lifecycle.

This is a senior advisory role focused on shaping contemporary suitability practices, providing authoritative advice on complex and sensitive cases, and strengthening risk-based controls aligned with APS integrity and personnel security requirements.

  • Australian Citizenship: Mandatory (Federal Government requirement)
  • Contract: Initial engagement until 31 December, with potential for extension
  • Rate: $602.55 per day + super (EL1)
  • Work arrangement: Hybrid (2–3 days WFH)About the role
Reporting under broad direction, the EL1 Specialist Advisor will lead complex workstreams relating to workforce suitability, personnel security and integrity risk. You will design and implement fit-for-purpose frameworks, provide expert advice on high-risk and sensitive matters, and partner closely with People & Culture, Security, Fraud, Legal and Risk teams to ensure consistent, defensible and proportionate suitability decisions across the Agency.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead the design and implementation of a contemporary employee suitability framework
  • Provide expert advice on complex suitability, integrity and workforce risk matters
  • Strengthen pre-employment screening and suitability assessment processes
  • Support risk-informed approaches to ongoing workforce suitability monitoring
  • Contribute to governance, policy and procedural uplift across the employment lifecycle
  • Prepare high-quality briefs, advice and documentation for senior executives
  • Build strong relationships with internal assurance, integrity and security stakeholders
Essential criteria
  • Significant experience in workforce suitability, personnel security, vetting or integrity-related roles
  • Strong judgement and ability to assess complex and sensitive information
  • Experience developing or applying frameworks, risk criteria or assessment methodologies
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including executive-level briefing
  • Ability to lead complex work, manage competing priorities and operate with discretion
Desirable experience
  • Experience applying PSPF requirements across the workforce lifecycle
  • Background working in government or other highly regulated environments
  • Experience leading reform, governance or capability uplift initiatives
