Job Title: User Experience Designer (Federal Government Client)

Client:
Federal Government
Contract Duration: 6 Months with extension
Location: Across Australia
Security Clearance: Must be an Australian Citizen with the ability to obtain Baseline clearance.

DFP Recruitment is hiring for a highly skilled professional in User Experience Designer for one of our Federal Government clients. This role is pivotal in enhancing the overall functionality and usability of their digital platforms. We are looking for a candidate who is passionate about creating engaging and seamless user experiences, ensuring that every interaction is user-friendly and adds value.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with user researchers and a Product Manager to deeply understand user needs, behaviours, and challenges.
  • Work with the Product Manager to grasp requirements and business limitations, aligning design solutions with strategic goals.
  • Partner with other designers to conceptualise and prototype solutions that address core user needs and issues, fostering a collaborative design environment.
  • Iterate designs based on stakeholder feedback and usability testing to ensure they are development-ready.
  • Ensure all designs are accessible and adhere to user-centered design principles and accessibility standards.
  • Work closely with developers to understand technical limitations and create detailed interaction specifications for implementation.
  • Maintain a comprehensive perspective of the user experience to ensure consistency and coherence across the platform.
  • Maintain internal design systems to ensure long-term consistency across the platform.
This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about design and making a meaningful impact on user experience, with the flexibility to adapt design fidelity as needed.

Key Skills:

  1. User-Centered Design Proficiency: Ability to create and iterate intuitive and engaging user experiences that meet user needs and expectations while complying with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines.
  2. Collaborative Teamwork: Ability to work effectively within a team environment, engaging with user researchers, developers, a product manager, and stakeholders to align design solutions with business objectives.
  3. Technical and Adaptive Design Proficiency: Deep understanding of design tools such as Figma and Miro, with the flexibility to produce designs at varying fidelity levels tailored to the project's context and objectives.
Desired Skills:
  1. Familiarity with the fundamentals of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to enable a holistic approach to user experience design and closer collaboration with development teams.
  2. Experience with Agile methodologies, fostering a flexible and responsive design approach that complements fast-paced development environments.
