A State Government department is seeking an Advisory Officer to join their Benefits and Personal Insurance team based in Parramatta. This is a full-time, office-based role for an initial 6-month contract, with the potential for extension. Monday to Friday (35 hours per week).

The Role

As an Advisory Officer, you will support a project reviewing pension income and insurance entitlements to ensure customers receive their correct benefits. Many of the customers rely on pension incomes as their sole source of income, making the accuracy of these assessments critical to their financial wellbeing.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Reviewing customer income streams from government and overseas pension sources.
  • Identify customers who may meet eligibility criteria for TPD insurance claims.
  • Prepare documentation and escalate claims for internal legal review and approval.
  • Maintain accurate records and update internal systems as required.
  • Coordinate and track project activities, timelines, and deliverables.
  • Communicate regularly with internal stakeholders to report on project progress and resolve any issues.
  • Assist with the development of project documentation including reports, updates, and briefing materials.
  • Apply project management tools and practices to ensure efficiency and consistency.
About You:
  • A paralegal or insurance claims background (TPD or life insurance preferred).
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to assess claim eligibility against policy criteria.
  • Experience in project coordination or financial service environments.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to manage sensitive information appropriately.
  • A customer-focused approach, particularly when supporting vulnerable individuals.
