Job description

Our client, a QLD State Government department, is seeking a part time (4 days a week) Senior Human Resources Business Partner.

About the Role
As a Senior Human Resources (HR) Business Partner, you will be a vital part of our client’s team, providing essential HR advice directly to leaders and employees. Your responsibilities will include supporting workforce and capability planning, workforce profiling, recruitment and selection processes, HR policy interpretation, employee relations, change management, and learning and development matters. You will collaborate closely with all areas of P&C to ensure seamless service delivery and involve specialist HR advisors for complex matters.

In this role, you will be valued for building strong relationships with clients, understanding their business needs, providing tailored HR assistance, and championing ongoing process improvement and change initiatives. Additionally, your proactive approach to fostering a capable, engaged, and healthy workforce will be highly appreciated.

Key Responsibilities
  • Your key responsibilities as a Senior HR Business Partner will include:
  • Proactively understanding the business operations and HR needs of the business.
  • Providing an internal consultancy service to leaders and staff across the business, including employee relations, interpreting, and applying public sector legislation, directives, policies, and agreements to manage complex and sensitive employee matters.
  • Preparing expert advice and advocacy for tribunals and commissions.
  • Assisting leaders and managers with workforce and succession planning.
  • Providing advice and support to managers and staff with their performance and development planning.
  • Offering advice, early intervention, and case management for Workplace Health, Safety, and Rehabilitation.
  • Undertaking research and analysis to develop advice, policy, and strategic documents relating to complex employment matters.
  • Collaborating with P&C colleagues to deliver seamless customer service and specific HR expertise when needed.
  • Maintaining knowledge of contemporary HR practices and seeking opportunities for improvements in line with business direction.
