APS6 & EL1 Payroll Specialist

A number of opportunities for APS6 & EL1 Payroll Specalists is available for to join a high-performing government team delivering payroll remediation solutions and payroll-related project initiatives. The department is responsible for enabling a productive economy, enriched by science and technology, for all Australians.
This role is offered through labour hire arrangements and is ideal for candidates who are confident working with complex payroll environments and have an interest in supporting business improvement and remediation activities.

APS6 Key Responsibilities
- work collaboratively with other team members to support the delivery of multiple payroll remediation projects.
- Perform analytical and problem-solving activities including identifying causes and potential remediation solutions.
- Prepare detailed documentation including briefs, project plans and process guides.
- Develop payroll test plans and perform Aurion system testing to ensure compliance with Enterprise Agreements and relevant policies.
- Analyse payroll data and perform reconciliations to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Support our client agencies on more complex payroll remediation issues and conditions.
- Complete audits on complex pay and conditions and entitlements to ensure compliance with enterprise agreements, tax superannuation and Fair Work obligations.
- Lead and manage multiple payroll remediation projects, including establishing clear plans and timeframes.
- Proven experience in a similar role
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, particularly in data reconciliation
- Excellent attention to detail
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and payroll-related systems
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic environment
- Effective communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Desirable: Experience with Aurion payroll systems or similar enterprise platforms
- Security: Ability to obtain and maintain a Baseline security clearance
