The Role:

The client is seeking APS5 and APS6 FOI Delegates roles:
 
The APS5 FOI Action Officer ensures quality assurance, training, and supports operational functions with research and analysis.
The APS6 FOI Delegate leads team management and prioritization, shaping agency information handling.
 
Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

APS5 FOI Action Officer:
  • Assist FOI Decision Makers in processing and making FOI decisions, including complex and sensitive matters.
  • Provide quality assurance checks, guidance, and training to the FOI team.
  • Prepare data reports, briefing materials, and formal decision letters.
  • Support administrative and project tasks related to FOI and PIA processes.
  • Assist in preparing statistical reports for senior management..
 APS6 FOI Delegate:
  • Lead and manage FOI matters, including decision-making and ensuring compliance with the FOI Act.
  • Manage priorities and resources effectively to meet deadlines.
  • Mentor and support FOI Action Officers, ensuring timely processing of requests.
  • Prepare briefing materials for Ministers, reports, and correspondence.
  • Assist in the development of systems, processes, and training for FOI and Privacy Impact Assessment (PIA) handling.
 Candidate Requirements:
  • Skills: Resilient, flexible, efficient, organized, detail-oriented, empathetic, with strong analytical skills. Proficient in Microsoft Suite.
  • Experience: Familiarity with the FOI Act or equivalent legislation. Experience in handling sensitive content and complex complaints, especially in disability-related fields. Previous work with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) or similar agencies is advantageous.
  • Additional: Experience in privacy processes or administrative schemes would be beneficial.
