A Federal Government agency is seeking a Strategic Communications Officer to support the delivery of strategic and internal communications across a range of organisational initiatives.
Working within a collaborative communications team, you will contribute to the planning, development and delivery of communications that support business improvements, policy updates and organisational change. This role involves working closely with stakeholders to develop clear, accessible messaging and coordinating communications activities across multiple channels.

Key Responsibilities
  • Draft clear, concise communications for a range of internal audiences and channels.
  • Contribute to the development and delivery of communication plans and strategies.
  • Coordinate communications activities including approvals, scheduling and go-live processes.
  • Provide practical communications advice to stakeholders based on policy, guidelines and organisational processes.
  • Champion plain English and ensure communications are accessible and aligned with style and branding guidelines.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders and project teams.
  • Manage competing priorities while maintaining high attention to detail.
  • Support communications projects and assist team members with administrative or coordination tasks when required.
Key Skills & Experience
  • Proven experience delivering strategic or corporate communications within a complex organisation.
  • Strong written communication skills with the ability to tailor messaging for different audiences.
  • Ability to manage your own workload, prioritise tasks and meet deadlines with limited supervision.
  • Experience contributing to communications plans or strategies.
  • Experience coordinating communications projects, including approvals and go-live activities.
  • High attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with stakeholders and resolve moderately complex issues.
  • Proven ability to build trusted relationships and act as a reliable communications adviser.
  • Strong teamwork skills and willingness to support colleagues when required.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Desirable
  • Tertiary qualification in communications, journalism or a related field.
  • Experience working in government or the public sector.
  • Copyediting experience.
  • Experience applying accessibility or inclusive communication practices.
  • Familiarity with corporate style and branding guidelines.
  • Experience supporting change, reform or large-scale communications projects.
  • Understanding of complex stakeholder environments with competing priorities.
  • Experience working with formal approval and governance processes
