Within their Strategic Communications division, the Digital Media team creates rich multimedia content that delivers important messages to the public in an engaging, easy-to-understand format.
They work across social media, websites, and digital platforms to enhance public awareness, support service users, and promote national initiatives.
About the Role
We’re seeking a creative and technically skilled Animation Designer to join a federal government communications team delivering engaging and accessible visual content. In this APS6 role, you’ll manage animation projects from concept through to delivery—bringing important initiatives to life across social media, web, and internal platforms.

About the Role

Key Responsibilities
- Create high-quality 2D/3D animations from concept, scripting, and storyboarding to final output
- Design motion content optimised for digital platforms, social media, and signage
- Produce branded content aligned with government style and accessibility standards
- Incorporate complex animations into video content (e.g., overlays on piece-to-camera footage)
- Visualise data and simplify complex concepts through animation
- Manage animation libraries and collaborate with stakeholders across projects
- Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite and animation software (e.g. After Effects, Blender)
- Experience managing end-to-end animation production
- Skilled in digital-first design and output for social platforms
- Ability to produce cohesive branded content suites
- Experience working in video production teams
- Strong project coordination and stakeholder management skills
- Familiarity with government branding and accessibility standards
- Strong visual storytelling and scripting capabilities
- Ability to simplify complex information into engaging animations
- Comfortable working with limited direction and changing priorities
- Clear communication around creative decisions and revisions
- Experience in agile or fast-turnaround production environments
