Finance Officer

Location: Bairnsdale
Full Time – Temporary 2 - 3 months
Salary: $45.84 base rate + Superannuation

Our client is seeking a highly motivated Finance Officer to join our dedicated Finance team on a temporary based fulltime for the duration of 2 – 3 months in beautiful Bairnsdale. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in delivering accurate, efficient, and timely financial accounting services that directly support.

About the Role

Reporting to the Financial Services Coordinator, this position is central to maintaining the integrity of our clients’ financial systems. You'll be responsible for managing day-to-day financial accounting tasks including general ledger reconciliations, BAS and tax reporting, treasury and investment functions, revenue processing, and accounts receivable.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform monthly general ledger reconciliations and financial reporting
  • Manage treasury and investment portfolio
  • Administer banking systems and resolve banking issues
  • Reconcile daily and monthly bank accounts
  • Prepare and lodge BAS and Diesel Fuel Tax Credit returns
  • Process general debtor invoices and manage overdue accounts
  • Support budget development and year-end financial processes
  • Assist with internal and external audits
  • Proactively review and improve financial procedures
About You

We are looking for a finance professional with:

  • A tertiary degree or diploma in a business-related discipline (preferred)
  • Substantial financial accounting experience, ideally within local government
  • Experience managing investments and cash flow in a regulatory environment
  • Strong MS Office skills (intermediate to advanced)
  • Exceptional communication and problem-solving skills
  • Valid police check
