APS6 Case Management Officer – Multiple positions
  • 12 month contract with extension
  • Perth CBD Location
  • $60.26ph + Super
About the Team
The Administrative Appeals Tribunal (AAT) Case Management Branch manages all external review applications in the AAT. The branch aims to improve the experience of current and prospective participants by resolving disputes in a timely and consistent manner.
 
About the Role
The APS6 Case Management Officer is accountable under limited direction to undertake complex work that is guided by legislation, policies, procedures, standards, methodologies and precedents. The position is a team leadership position within the Agency and will have delegated authority and responsibility to resolve issues and risks across a range of activities. The role is required to provide leadership, control, planning, resource management, performance management and decision making for the Team Membership within the work area.
 
The APS6 Case Management officer has reasonable autonomy and accountability to exercise both initiative and judgement to interpret legislation and policy, in the application of practices and procedures to achieve outcomes within the functions. The position is required to provide detailed technical, professional, policy, operational support, and advice in relation to complex problems. Where required, the role will coordinate and assist in the strategic planning, program and project management and policy development that support the Agency
 
Responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to:
  • Undertaking end to end case management activities, subject to appropriate line manager input and oversight.
  • Resolving matters through case management of AAT applications in relation to reviewable decisions in sections of relevant Acts to the agency. 
  • Undertaking case management of complex AAT matters and analysing to develop options for early resolution.
  • Obtaining necessary information and advice to effectively resolve AAT matters.
  • Applying alternate dispute resolution methods and advocacy skills to resolving applications/reviews, in keeping with the model litigant principles.
  • Attending Case Conferences, Conciliations and Hearings conducted by the AAT.
  • Preparing documents detailing resolution options and outcomes at Case Management meetings.
  • Assessing and responding to priorities and risks, including risk to the participant, Scheme sustainability and the Agency.
  • Preparing and maintaining electronic record keeping, including evidence supporting decision making processes and justifying conclusions reached during the case management process. 
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following: 
  • Excellent written communication and reporting skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Managing high workloads
  • An understanding of or lived experience in the field of disability is highly desirable. Any legal and/or case management experience. 
  • Hold Australian Citizenship at time of application
Security
The following essential checks/clearances are required to perform the role:
  • Pre-Engagement Check - this is a mandatory pre-employment security screening process. All employees and contractors of Agency must undertake a Pre-Engagement Check. This process can take a few weeks if succesful for the position, you will also require a relatively clean police clearance.
