Job Title: Bridge Inspection Worker Our State Government client is seeking an experienced Bridge Inspector for an initial 6-month contract with the possibility of extension.
Rate: Candidates will be submitted to the client at rate of their choosing (plus set overtime and travel allowances)
Duration: 6 months with possible extension
Hours: Full-time – Up to 10 hours per day on 8/6 FIFO schedule
Location: Welshpool based with FIFO travel around regional WA
Type: Temporary casual contract (no leave entitlements – casual loading included in rate)
Position Overview
The Bridge Inspection Worker plays a critical role in ensuring the integrity and safety of bridge structures across Western Australia. This position involves extensive fieldwork, requiring travel to various bridge sites, and hands-on inspection activities. The successful candidate will work as part of a small, specialized team to measure, assess, and document structural conditions, contributing to the maintenance and safety protocols of our regional infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
Field Inspection & Site Travel:
Travel to diverse bridge locations throughout Western Australia, ensuring punctuality and adherence to site-specific safety protocols.
Support experienced bridge inspectors in conducting thorough on-site assessments of bridge structures.
Inspection & Measurement:
Assist in the identification and measurement of structural defects and anomalies using a variety of tools and equipment such as shovels, drills, measuring tapes, and other specialized instruments.
Accurately record findings and collaborate with team members to determine the severity and potential impact of identified issues.
Documentation & Reporting:
Complete detailed inspection reports and maintain accurate records of all observations, measurements, and any recommended remedial actions.
Ensure that all documentation complies with regulatory standards and internal quality assurance procedures.
Required Skills, Knowledge, and Experience:
Physical Capability & Safety:
Demonstrated ability to safely perform physically demanding tasks, particularly in remote and challenging environments, as part of a small team.
Experience in using hand tools and specialized equipment safely and effectively in field conditions.
Technical Proficiency:
Ability to accurately interpret technical plans and blueprints.
Proven aptitude in taking precise measurements and completing associated paperwork with meticulous attention to detail.
Roster Flexibility:
Must be willing to work an 8 & 6 roster, which involves being away from home for up to 7 consecutive nights per fortnight.
Desirable Attributes
Computer Literacy:
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook) for documentation and reporting purposes.
Comfortable with basic computer operations and quick to learn new software systems.
Communication & Teamwork:
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively collaborate with team members and report findings.
A proactive, safety-focused approach to working independently and as part of a dynamic team.

- WA C Class Drivers Licence
- White Card
- First Aid Certificate
- Manual Handling Licence
- 4WD Licence
- Full working rights within Australia
- Full Medical Check including drug and alcohol screening before commencement
- Current National Police Clearance (or able to obtain if successful)
