Job description

Multiple opportunities are available for Clerical Assistants to support the Electoral Commission during an upcoming election period. These roles involve high-volume clerical processing and quality control activities critical to election delivery.

ECSA will be commencing all Clerical Assistants on Monday, March 22nd. The assignment will end around March 30th.

Successful candidates must be able to commit to full-time hours for the entire duration of the assignment, with some overtime and weekend work required.

Key Responsibilities & Requirements
  • Processing and sorting postal vote applications and electoral documentation
  • Conducting quality assurance and validity checks on electoral materials
  • Collating, preparing, counting and processing ballot papers and declaration votes
  • Accurate data entry, verification and record keeping of declaration vote returns
  • Packaging and handling ballot papers and declaration envelopes
  • Assisting supervisors and supporting broader CPC operational activities
  • Following strict procedures, safety requirements and confidentiality obligations
  • Performing alphabetic and numeric sorting tasks with strong attention to detail
  • Utilising strong keyboard and alpha-numeric data entry skills with high accuracy
  • Communicating effectively and working collaboratively within a team environment
  • Demonstrating reliability, punctuality and the ability to work to deadlines
  • Availability to work rostered hours including overtime and weekends during the election period
  • Hold valid Australian working rights and maintain neutrality in political affairs
Additional Information
  • Engagement is approximately 10 days, full time
  • Weekend hours will be required
