We are excited to offer an exceptional opportunity for an experienced Procurement and Contracts Coordinator to join a forward-thinking local council in the Hunter Region (NSW). About the Role:

In this dynamic position, you will be responsible for maintaining currency of and compliance with Council’s Procurement Policies and Framework. The Coordinator Procurement and Contracts implements procurement training for the organisation, provides advice and guidance to staff on procurement planning, sourcing and managing contracts in line with Council policies.

Key Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Maintain Council’s Procurement Policy Framework and associated procedures ensuring alignment with legislative requirements and best practice.
  • Provide strategic advice and information on procurement planning, sourcing strategies and contract management matters to staff across Council.
  • Conduct strategic and operational planning for the procurement function, ensuring compliance with emerging legislative requirements and alignment of priorities with Council's strategic objectives.
  • Coordinate Council’s Tendering activities ensuring compliance with Council policies and legislative requirements.
  • Work collaboratively with the WHS Advisor and Council staff to ensure contractors engaged by Council are compliant with Council policy and procedures, particularly with respect to WHS obligations and insurance requirements.
  • Identify, report and mitigate procurement risks.
  • Ensure procurement training adequately educates staff across Council and monitor compliance with procurement training requirements.
  • Assess Council’s utilisation of software supporting the Procurement Policy Framework and make recommendations for improvement where appropriate.
  • Ensure procurement reports to Council contain the required level of detail to enable Council’s decision making, attend relevant Councilor
 
What We Are Looking For:
  • Tertiary qualifications relevant to the responsibilities of the position or extensive experience in a similar position.
  • A current NSW driver’s licence.
  • Demonstrated participation in and contribution to strategic planning activities for procurement and / or contract management.
  • Proven experience in the preparation of Tender documentation and an understanding of the principles of competitive tendering.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing contracts and providing procurement and contract advice.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrated high ethical standards.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Knowledge of the Hunter Region’s infrastructure is an advantage.
