The Corporate Service Section supports the CEO and Agency in all corporate support services including providing strategic advice on corporate governance and risk, legislative and regulatory compliance reporting, security, administration and ministerial matters.
The Role:
The APS6 Corporate Governance and Reporting Officer supports the Manager, Corporate Governance and Risk to update and maintain frameworks, policies and procedures that assist the agency to identify and manage its risks and to meet its compliance obligations. The role is also responsible for coordinating various parliamentary and ministerial matters including the preparation of Ministerial submissions, senate estimates briefs and responses to Questions on Notice.
Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Provide advice and support to the organisation to increase our maturity in risk management, achieve best practice and ensure compliance with governance
- Facilitate the maintenance and implementation of our strategic and operational risk
- Assist in maintaining up-to-date governance frameworks through policy
- Provide secretariat support services to the Audit, Risk and Compliance Committee (ARCC), maintain the ARCC’s forward workplan, coordinate agendas and meeting papers, and support the administrative operation of meetings.
- Coordinate and prepare ministerial briefings, senate estimates briefs, responses to Questions on Notice, submissions, and other parliamentary documents, ensuring high standards of quality and completion within timeframes.
- Manage and coordinate responses to Freedom of Information requests.
- Manage the APS5 Corporate Services Officer responsible for office accommodation and facility management.
- Knowledge of, or an ability to develop an understanding of, legislative and policy frameworks that meet the requirements of corporate governance obligations for a Commonwealth agency that is subject to the:
- National Health Reform Act 8677
- Public Governance Performance and Accountability Act 8679
- Commonwealth Risk Management Policy
- Ability to exercise judgement, think strategically and make appropriate recommendations about risk and compliance to achieve best practice.
- Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills, and the proven ability to liaise and communicate effectively and to obtain cooperation from staff at all levels as well as external stakeholders.
- Demonstrated excellent writing and editing skills, including contributing to policies, writing high quality briefs, meeting papers and other government documents.
- Excellent organisational skills to manage competing deadlines, while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
- Experience in governance, compliance and reporting within a Commonwealth or state government environment is highly desirable.
