Our Federal Government Client is an independent agency that promotes efficiency and increased transparency in the delivery and funding of public health and aged care services across Australia.
 
The Aged Care Pricing Section is responsible for developing and refining the pricing models for advice to the Australian Government on pricing for residential and in-home aged care. This involves research, statistical analysis and modelling to understand data collected from aged care providers and other sources and develop evidence-based pricing advice based on the cost of care.

The Role:

The position of Data Analyst combines elements of data science, stakeholder management and leadership to contribute to strategic goals.
 
Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
  • Understanding and analysing data collected from aged care services to design statistical models and answer complex policy questions.
  • Providing input to the development of cost and pricing models for aged care services.
  • Providing specialist advice to various working groups, managing relationships, and working with stakeholders on technical issues.
  • Preparing analytic working papers and technical documentation to communicate technical issues to key stakeholders.
  • Supporting the Executive in explaining model results and other technical issues to external stakeholders.
  • Collaborating with other section on broader work program.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following:
  • Demonstrated technical and analytical skills, and experience in mathematical or statistical analysis and model development.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing clear and efficient code preferably using SAS, SQL, or python to understand and analyse data.
  • Demonstrated capacity to conduct sound analyses in an environment dominated by policy and stakeholder constraints.
  • Ability to adopt a pragmatic approach to analysis and deliver results accordingly.
  • Demonstrated experience in contributing to a higher performing multi-disciplinary team.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate complex technical information that is appropriate for a range of audiences.
