Job description

 EL1 – Senior Automation Tester
  • $650 - $750 / Daily (plus super)  
  • Canberra
  • Contract (12-months, possible extension)
  • Hybrid
About the role
Working closely with the branch’s Test Manager, the Senior Test Automation Consultant establishes approaches for test code development and integrates test automation with Scrum workflow and build processes. They will also help complement and uplift testing practises in some “legacy” testing streams through introduction of automation and transition into DevOps.

Duties
  • Evaluate and recommend test automation technology selection and strategy (including framework selection and coding language).
  • Design and implement automation frameworks, ensuring usability, effectiveness, efficiency and maintainability are met. Frameworks must support backend and UI components, with a particular emphasis on Accessibility.
  • Set standards for writing test code and automation coding principles to be used across the team.
  • Support in-Sprint delivery of automated tests meeting acceptance criteria and enable Definition of Done.
  • Write tests and supporting automation code.
  • Oversee the continual improvement of automation testing practices.
  • Manage risks and issues related to the provision of automated tests.
  • Support the Test Manager to grow the team of automation testers and breadth of coverage
Essential Criteria
  • Expert “hands-on” technical proficiency in the principles and practical application of automation testing, test frameworks, CI/CD, across a variety of tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a high degree of role autonomy and “can do” attitude.
  • Bachelor's or higher degree in Engineering, Computing Science or Mathematics or another relevant technical field.
  • 2–5 years’ experience in a senior automation test role.
Desirable Criteria
  • Demonstrated analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Passion for driving quality through testing and automation.
  • Comfortable with new ways of thinking about accessibility and enthusiastic about accessible design & development will be highly regarded
