About the Organisation
Our client is a Federal Commission that provides trusted and independent intelligence on Australia’s skills and jobs through data and analysis on the labour market, skills needs and VET pricing and performance. Its communications and engagement team manages the website, LinkedIn, Twitter, media and events for the Commission. It also work with policy teams to create engaging content and collateral.
 
About the Role
Key responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
  • Stakeholder mapping
  • Stakeholder engagement
  • Seeing out appropriate events for the Commissioner to attend as keynote speaker.
  • Managing event support for the Commissioner and senior staff, such as developing event briefs and liaising with stakeholder organisations to ensure event requests are appropriate for the Commissioner or other senior staff.
  • Liaising between Commissioner’s staff, event organisers and others to ensure speaker information is provided in a timely manner.
  • Manage promotion of event speeches to internal and external audiences via website, newsletter, social media and media as appropriate.
  • Support the communications team with content, proofing and other communications activities as required.
In this role, you will support the management of major stakeholders, particularly with regards to events. You will be highly organised and able to manage the production and distribution of communications materials. You will have well developed interpersonal and communication skills and experience in responding to enquiries, establishing and managing stakeholder relationships. It would be highly desirable for the successful candidate to have experience in translating complex data or a previous communications role in a technical agency.

The candidate will have:

  • The ability to respond flexibly to changing priorities in a dynamic work environment and deliver high quality results
  • Strong interpersonal skills – the ability to lead others and work productively as a member of a team
  • The ability to work independently on tasks, exercise judgement and understand the impact of the wider environment on their own work, team objectives and other sections.
Essential:
  • Prior experience in managing event speaking requests from initiation to implementation.
  • Experience in stakeholder engagement and communications.
Desired:
  • Digital communications experience is desirable, including social media and website management
  • Previous experience working in a technical agency or demonstrated technical writing skill preferred.
