Job description

  • Federal Government opportunity in Surry Hills or Newcastle
  • 12-month contract with possibility of extension
  • EL1 Assistant Director Level band

The EL1 Assistant Director is required to coordinate and assume responsibility to undertake detailed or sensitive projects that may include performing varied activities involving many different and unrelated processes or methods that may impact on the strategic or operational outcomes.


Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
  • Managing the day issues and requirements of the team.
  • Interpreting complex data and developing reports and documentation detailing complex issues for senior leaders and the team.
  • Setting up Multi-Disciplinary Teams (MDTs) and lead complex collaboration meetings involving large groups of stakeholders, keeping stakeholders informed and drawing them towards solutions.
  • Undertaking performance assessments and supporting the leadership team with performance management of their teams.
  • Supporting the development of team culture, improving processes and developing ways of working.
  • Developing Jira queries, or others via MS Tools, to support issues investigation.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following:
  • Deep understanding of Project Management and ability to use differing project tools.
  • Evidenced ability to lead projects and multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Ability to influence stakeholders, drive decision making, and manage conflicting or challenging situations.
  • Experience in the use of Jira and Confluence.
  • Strong leadership, strategic organization, influence, and negotiation skills.
  • Detailed understanding of SAP and Salesforce CRM platforms (Desirable).
