Success in this role is measured by prompt response to cybersecurity threats and quality security maintenance.
 
About the Role
As a Junior Cybersecurity Analyst, you will provide support to our cybersecurity lead to help assist the administrative aspects of the security function, such as monitoring security alerts, reviewing inboxes, and acting as first point of contact for reported security incidents.
This is a temporary casual position working 4 hours per day, 5 days per week.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor and investigate security alerts.
  • Manage and respond to alerts received via the cybersecurity mailbox, ensuring timely action.
  • Review and release held messages, particularly those flagged for VIP impersonation or other organisational-level threats.
  • Respond to escalated helpdesk requests, including those that may evolve into project work.
  • Review and assess reported phishing emails, taking appropriate mitigation steps.
  • Provide in-person support for walk-in requests and respond to queries received via Microsoft Teams.
About You:
  • Currently studying or recently completed tertiary qualification in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science or a relevant discipline.
  • Basic understanding of network protocols, firewalls, and antivirus and endpoint detection and response tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret security logs and alerts.
