Reporting to the Director, the successful candidate will support a key research program by applying advanced coding and analytical expertise to large administrative datasets. The role involves sophisticated quantitative analysis, high-level economic and labour market research, and contributing to evidence-based policy insights.

Reporting to the Director, the successful candidate will support a key research program by applying advanced coding and analytical expertise to large administrative datasets. The role involves sophisticated quantitative analysis, high-level economic and labour market research, and contributing to evidence-based policy insights.
Role responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality statistical and analytical inputs for reports, briefing materials, and other documentation within tight timeframes.
- Communicate effectively, influence outcomes, and collaborate with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders to provide advice and gather intelligence.
- Build team capability through coaching, providing constructive performance feedback, and supporting professional development.
- Support and collaborate with a high-performing, multidisciplinary, and geographically dispersed team including academics, economists, policy officers, and data scientists/analysts.
- Lead project delivery by managing milestones, prioritising competing demands, and ensuring deadlines are met.
- Advanced coding capability in R and Python.
- Demonstrated expertise working with Australian Government administrative datasets, including PLIDA.
- Strong experience in labour market analysis and/or economic modelling using advanced quantitative techniques.
- Experience using GitHub, Azure (Databricks and Data Lake), and Posit.
- Sound understanding of metadata, data standards, data requirements, and data infrastructure.
- Experience applying multilevel modelling frameworks.
- Knowledge of Bayesian inference and its practical applications.
- Post-graduate qualifications in a relevant discipline (e.g. economics, econometrics, or data science) are essential.
