Role and Scope
The Manager, Information and Records is responsible for ensuring that spatial and non-spatial information services operate effectively and evolve in line with organisational priorities and digital strategy.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting business units to meet information management obligations and deliver high-quality information to internal and external stakeholders.
- Developing, leading, and promoting strategies and policies governing information structures, taxonomies, and the full lifecycle of information assets.
- Designing and implementing information management plans, including records management frameworks, aligned with the organisation’s digital and IT strategies.
- Establishing and maintaining policies, procedures, and standards that ensure effective access to, assurance of, and compliance in information services, including adherence to relevant legislation and government policies relating to data use, storage, and disclosure.
- Providing oversight of IT service operations, including the IT Service Desk function.
- Managing organisational obligations relating to information governance, including freedom of information, information sharing, privacy, and responsible data handling legislation.
- Partnering with senior ICT leadership to support financial modelling and cost-effective delivery of information management services aligned to organisational priorities.
- Strategic Information Leadership - Demonstrated extensive experience operating in a complex, geographically dispersed public sector or comparable environment, with a proven ability to design innovative, standards-based solutions for the strategic management of information assets across their lifecycle.
- People Leadership - Demonstrated ability to lead and develop diverse, multidisciplinary teams within a complex operational environment, with strong knowledge of contemporary best-practice principles, methodologies, and processes—and the judgement to apply them pragmatically.
- Information and Records Expertise - Substantial experience in:
- Legislation, policy frameworks, and emerging trends impacting information and records management.
- Development and execution of organisation-wide information management strategies.
- Ensuring information quality, integrity, availability, authenticity, and usability while enabling collaboration and innovation.
- Senior Management and Financial Acumen - Extensive experience in senior management roles within information management or ICT environments, including responsibility for financial and physical resources. This includes financial modelling, budget development, monitoring, and delivery within a large, complex organisation.
