Our Federal Government Client assists the Australian Government to fund hospital and aged care services more efficiently by providing evidence‑based price determinations and pricing advice.
 
In 2022, the scope of the organisation’s functions were expanded under various legislations to provide advice about certain aged care pricing and costing matters to each relevant Commonwealth Minister and to approve higher maximum accommodation payment amounts and extra service fees for residential aged care.

The Role:

The APS6 Operations Officer is responsible for the management of the Accommodation Team inboxes for applications and another for enquiries, along with conducting initial assessments of applications to determine if they are ready for assessment, and the overall data management and compliance of the information received by the applicants.

Additionally, the APS6 Operations Officer manages contracts, procurement, reporting to the Pricing Authority and other government agencies and development of material for publication including preparation of material for media enquiries and the annual report.

They would also manage correspondence to providers to ensure applications are tracked and received across the four-year cycle.

Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
  • Support the Director, Aged Care Policy Accommodation with project management activities e.g. across end-to-end delivery to monitor, track and report the status of project deliverables to ensure time, cost and quality metrics are in line with approved project artefacts.
  • Initial assessment of RAD applications from providers
  • Management of inboxes and enquiries
  • Assist in the development of educational resources
  • Procurement and Contract management
  • Management and monitoring of compliance and risk activities
  • Support the team to develop and maintain comprehensive briefing papers for relevant governance committees and external agencies.
 
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following:
  • Provide expertise and knowledge in the specialist area across a range of project activities for the work area
  • Assist in strategic planning, program and project management and/or policy development for the work area.
  • Implement work plans for the work area including setting tasks and priorities, managing work flow and allocating resources.
  • Monitor work area performance with an in-depth understanding of relevant legislative and policy frameworks.
  • Perform research and analysis to make decisions that involve complex or escalated issues, longer-term planning and liaison with other sections on policy, project or operational issues.
  • Develop, support and maintain complex relationships with internal and external stakeholders – anticipating needs and expectations
  • Relevant qualifications and /or necessary experience aligned to the role requirements will be highly regarded.
