Our Federal Government client is seeking an experienced and motivated APS6 Senior Contracts Officer to join their Business Operations Branch. This is an exciting opportunity to play a vital role in supporting the mental health and wellbeing of their clients through high quality contract management and administrative support.
About the Role:
As an APS6 Senior Contracts Officer, you will be responsible for the effective coordination and management of low to medium risk contracts, providing expert administrative oversight, supporting key governance and procurement processes and contributing to business efficiency within a fast-paced, client-focused environment.
You will apply sound judgement, initiative and stakeholder engagement skills to solve complex problems and deliver quality outcomes. The role also offers the opportunity to contribute to a positive and inclusive workplace culture, supporting continuous improvement initiatives across the Division.

Responsibilities:
- Manage contract lifecycles with governance, performance, risk, and financials for low to medium risk agreements
- Prepare procurement and contract documentation, including management plans and performance reporting
- Interpret and advise on government procurement and contract policies
- Provide strategic input on performance evaluation and risk mitigation strategies
- Collaborate with stakeholders to explore innovative solutions to complex contract issues
- Track and report on expenditure, ensuring value-for-money outcomes
- Maintain accurate and compliant contract records using procurement systems
- Interpret contract terms and ensure all parties meet their obligations
- Represent the branch in internal and external forums and contribute to broader team outcomes
- Support administrative processes, such as records and resource management, calendar coordination and internal collaboration tools
- Support and mentor team members where required
- Contribute to a safe, diverse, and respectful workplace, aligned with APS values and the Code of Conduct
- Demonstrated experience in contract management and procurement
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce clear and concise complex correspondence
- Excellent time management and the ability to manage competing priorities in a high-volume environment
- High-level problem-solving and analytical skills
- Knowledge of government decision-making processes, legislative and financial frameworks
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and relevant government systems, including SharePoint
- Ability to work autonomously with limited supervision while contributing effectively to a team
- Strong interpersonal skills with experience in stakeholder negotiation and relationship management
- Experience supporting continuous improvement and streamlining administrative processes
