About the role
We are seeking two (2) APS 6 Finance Officers to join the team., You will provide operational support and advice in relation to complex finances, including strategic planning of the branch finances and associated program/ project funding. These contractors will apply accounting skills, detailed analytics and strategic initiative in their work to support the Assistant Director, Director, and Senior Executive to effectively manage, sustain and forecast the Branch’s financial profile.
 
Duties
  • Providing financial reporting, support and advice to the Assistant Director and Director, including preparing finance dashboards and reports for executives.
  • Responding to a range of internal reporting requests (e.g. budget and annual reporting updates, forecasting of branch budgets, monthly accruals, monthly reporting)
  • Managing the collection of information to monitor program budget, forecasts, and expenses, including updating and maintaining the program finance model.
  • Liaising with the group’s finance business partners to maintain internal controls and meet financial reporting requirements.
  • Monitoring and processing accruals and vendor invoices
  • Improving financial processes and systems to ensure they are efficient, effective, and fit for purpose.
Desired experience    
  • Experience in government accounting or finance area and a working knowledge of the Commonwealth Financial Framework
  • Qualifications in finance or accounting and experience in finance modelling are desirable but not essential.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills and experience interacting with both business areas and individuals at all levels including executives.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to formulate advice and provide input to complex issues.
  • Previous experience with SAP/HUB and TM1 or similar reporting tools highly regarded.
  • Ability to effectively manage competing deadlines to achieve results and deliver high quality outcomes.
  • Highly developed interpersonal, collaboration, communication and influencing skills to successfully develop and maintain relationships with a range of different stakeholders.
  • Qualifications in finance or accounting, and experience in financial modelling is desirable but not essential.
