APS4 & APS5 Program Officers
We are seeking motivated and capable APS4 and APS5 Program Officers to support the delivery of key programs and projects within a fast-paced and collaborative APS environment. These roles are well suited to professionals who enjoy problem-solving, stakeholder engagement and contributing to outcomes that matter.
The Program Officers will support the team’s operational effectiveness, contribute to internal and external stakeholder engagement, and undertake moderately complex work in grants and Financial Funding Agreements (FFAs) administration. You will operate under limited direction, exercise judgement, and make independent decisions within your area of responsibility, while working closely with colleagues and senior leaders.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepare high-quality briefs, correspondence and responses, including data and information requests
- Conduct quality assurance of work prior to submission
- Liaise with delivery partners (including the Grants Hub and State and Territory governments) and other stakeholders on project matters, including media and event requests
- Contribute to governance processes and reporting requirements
- Identify program and project risks and propose appropriate mitigation strategies
- Review program and project information with executive leaders to help resolve complex issues
- Manage and respond to complex tasks such as FOI requests, legal requests and FFAs, with guidance as required
- Draft briefings, ministerial correspondence, parliamentary responses, FOI responses, and input into FFAs
- Attend meetings with delivery partners, stakeholders and internal business areas, including on FFA-related matters
- Take carriage of individual work items such as reporting, FFAs and FOIs
- Maintain accurate records in accordance with departmental record-keeping standards
- Exercise delegations efficiently, ethically and in line with APS guidelines
- Participate in team meetings, continuous improvement activities and professional development
- Undertake other duties as directed to support team and branch objectives
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Demonstrated negotiation and stakeholder engagement capability
- Well-developed problem-solving skills, including the ability to analyse information, undertake research and make evidence-based recommendations
- Experience preparing documentation and maintaining accurate records
- Ability to follow established procedures while using initiative and sound judgement
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and tight timeframes
- Medium to advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Experience in project, contract and/or grants management
- Experience working within the Australian Public Service
- Exposure to legal services, particularly contracts or funding agreements
