Job description

Our client is currently seeking multiple Freedom of Information Officers at both APS4 and APS5 level to join their team in Melbourne. 

The Role

In this role you will be responsible for providing operational and administrative support that is informed and directed by sound knowledge. This role may also require the successful applicant to undertake some research and analysis activities.

This will be a varied, busy role and requires someone with resilience and an ability to work in a changing environment.

Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
  • Registering and documenting FOI requests, preparing and distributing FOI acknowledgement emails.
  • Undertaking procedures to assist with creating, processing and making decisions to ensure all matters are recorded correctly on all databases in accordance with the FOI Act.
  • Preparing and drafting a range of material including data reports, briefing material and correspondence.
  • Providing administrative support to develop systems, processes and practical tools including training to support FOI handling and awareness.
  • Providing administrative access where necessary to relevant local servers, distribution lists and agency databases.
  • Assisting in preparing statistical reports for senior staff where required.
  • Assisting with the release and closure of FOI matters.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following:
  • Proven experience in a similar role.
  • Strong administrative experience.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills along with excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining high work standards and accuracy.
  • Experience in building relationships both with internal and external stakeholders.
