Job description

Joining the Administrative Appeals Branch in this federal government agency, the APS5 & 6 Case Managers work under guidance to manage, progress and resolve applications. These Brisbane based assignments are for an initial term of 12 months, with view to multiple extensions. 

The role focuses on resolving matters in a timely manner and where required preparing a matter for case conferences, conciliation conference and hearing including instructing internal or external lawyers.
 
Responsibilities
 
Accountable for effectively organising and managing a high volume of complex cases, responsibilities may include but are not limited to;
  • Undertake end to end case management activities
  • Resolve matters through case management of AAT applicable in relation to reviewable decision
  • Undertake case management of low to moderately complex matters and analyse to develop options for early resolution
  • Obtain information and advice to effectively resolve matters
  • Apply alternate dispute resolution methods and advocacy skills to resolve applications/reviews
  • Attend case conferences, conciliations and hearings as required
  • Prepare documents detailing resolution options and outcomes at case management meetings
  • Assess and respond to priorities and risks
  • Prepare and maintain electronic record keeping, including evidence supporting decision-making processes and justifying conclusions reached during the case management process
About You
  • Previous experience within a similar role; within a government/ legal setting is highly desirable
  • Demonstrated ability to make sound judgements and develop options to solve problems
  • Ability to prepare documents, such as those that explain a position under legislation
  • Ability to listen and communicate clearly and effectively
  • Experience undertaking specialist or technical research and analysis, conducting investigations and providing advice on policy or legislation
  • Case management experience and/or legal experience will be highly regarded
  • Based in Brisbane CBD
