About the role
 
As an Events Officer, you will manage all aspects of event planning, coordination and execution and will be at the forefront of event planning and organisation, playing a crucial role in shaping agency presence in industry summits, conferences, workshops, seminars, and forums.
 
Responsibilities may include but are not limited to: 
  • For the Senior Events Officer you will Lead a team who takes charge of event coordination and management.
  • For the Events Officer you will work with the Events leadership team to identify key opportunities at events to inform a proactive events strategy.
  • Work closely with the stakeholders to understand the event requirements and align event objectives and organisational goals.
  • Responsible for developing project plans, monitoring progress, and coordinating with cross functional team to ensure smooth execution.
  • Monitor event budgets, tracking expenditure and ensuring financial resources are allocated appropriately.
  • Liaise with venues on event logistics and provide detailed calendar invites for the event.
  • Negotiate contracts and manages relationships to secure necessary resources and services.
  • Identify potential risks, develops contingency plans, and ensures compliance with relevant policies, regulations and health and safety standards.
  • Able to negotiate effectively by listening to differing ideas and views to develop a clear understanding of the issues, and to present persuasive counterarguments.
 The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following: 
  • For APS5 - some events experience and some digital event delivery experience – EventsAir is a preference. This needs to be in an events environment – not in a coding/ICT environment.
  • For APS6 - 5+ years of event experience with large, complex organisations or experience working in government a benefit. Again, digital event delivery is a benefit with EventsAir experience being a preference in terms of event management platforms
  • Positive contemporary attitudes to people with disability, high level understanding and knowledge of disability, and its impact on individuals.
  • Relevant experience in event coordination, preferably in a large organisation setting.
  • Strong digital experience in managing virtual as well as hybrid events
  • Strong project coordination skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple events simultaneously and work under tight deadlines.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills to collaborate effectively with internal teams, external partners, and suppliers.
  • Budget management experience.
  • Strong critical thinking skills and the ability to adapt to changing circumstances.
  • Experience working with EventsAir will be advantageous.
