We are seeking multiple APS5 Community and Peer Advisors in multiple locations including:

Central to their Model of Care is the recognition and embedding of Lived Experience Peer Work as an integral and respected component of service delivery. Community and Peer Advisors work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams to promote recovery oriented, trauma informed mental health support.  Reporting to the Lived Experience Peer Team Leader, APS5 Community Peer Advisors will work alongside clinical teams to deliver person centred, strengths based support to veterans and their families.

About the Role:
Under their Model of Care, Community and Peer Advisors utilise their lived experience of military service or military family life, along with their own mental health journey to provide respectful, hopeful and recovery focused support.

Responsibilities:
The successful candidates will required to:
  • Deliver personalised peer support services to current and former ADF members and their families.
  • Collaboratively identify client recovery goals and develop individualised Action Plans focused on strengths and measurable progress.
  • Support clients in navigating services such as housing, counselling and community supports.
  • Work within a multidisciplinary team environment, contributing to case reviews and co-facilitating relevant group programs.
  • Liaise with family members, treatment providers and key stakeholders to ensure holistic care.
  • Promote our client’s services within the veteran community and build strong networks with ADF, veteran and family-focused organisations.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and uphold confidentiality and privacy requirements.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development, peer networks and external professional supervision.
About You:
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
  • Genuine Lived Experience of military service or military family life and a personal or carer related mental health journey.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to promote recovery oriented and trauma informed principles.
  • High levels of integrity, emotional intelligence and professionalism.
  • The ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
  • A commitment to continuous professional development and reflective practice.
Key Requirements
Mandatory:
  • Lived Experience as outlined above.
  • Working With Children (WWC) and/or Vulnerable People Checks/Clearance prior to commencement.
Desired:
  • Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work, or willingness to obtain.
  • Experience delivering Lived Experience Peer support.
  • Background in mental health, mentoring, coaching or individual support roles.
