Location:  Southwest and Lower Great southern Regions.
Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:30am–4:30pm
Type: 12-month temp Contract
Start date: 23rd March 2026
Hourly rate: $36/hour + Super + Allowances for Vehicle

We are seeking reliable and detail‑oriented Data Collection Officers to support a major Land Use and Employment Survey. This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy fieldwork, engaging with local businesses, and working independently. Candidates with urban or regional planning backgrounds, including recent graduates, are strongly encouraged to apply. This is a Hybrid role, WFH and onsite and you will be required to have your own reliable vehicle

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct field surveys and update business information (trade name, land use, floor space, employment, etc).
  • Follow up with businesses via face-to-face visits, email or phone.
  • Attend weekly/fortnightly briefings online or in-person.
  • Maintain daily communication with the Customer Liaison Officer regarding your location and schedule.
  • Download and manage survey packs on a provided tablet and upload data via Cloud systems.
  • Complete run sheets and daily timesheets accurately.
  • Notify the Customer of absences and advise when nearing completion of survey packs.
  • Always carry and present your Survey ID card.
Requirements
Essential
  • Mobile phone with good coverage.
  • Access to a vehicle and valid C Class WA driver’s licence.
  • SmartRider or equivalent.
  • National Police Clearance (within last 12 months).
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret maps.
  • Confident using tablets and programs such as Microsoft Office and Google Maps.
  • Able to work independently in office, field and home settings.
  • Good fitness level for walking between businesses.
  • Professional business attire.
Desirable
  • Familiarity with the survey area.
  • Knowledge of town planning.
  • Qualifications or experience in urban/regional planning (highly preferred).
