Job description

We are seeking an experienced Test Automation Lead to play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality technology solutions that make a real impact.
This role will see you leading automation testing activities across complex systems, working closely with developers, product managers, and stakeholders to ensure applications meet business requirements and exceed user expectations.
 
This is a 12 month contract position with a leading State Government Department. Located in the Brisbane CBD, this role offers some flexibility to work from home.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Design, implement, and maintain automated test suites across frontend and backend components, aligned with Agile practices.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and implement effective testing strategies.
  • Develop and maintain test documentation including plans, cases, scenarios, and automated playbooks for both functional and non-functional testing.
  • Analyse results, identify defects, and support developers in timely resolution.
  • Enhance automation frameworks and integrate new tools to improve efficiency and coverage.
  • Manage issues and defects through identification, resolution, and closure.
  • Build strong working relationships across teams to ensure project success.
Technical Skills & Experience
  • Proficiency in HTML, CSS, Java, and JavaScript.
  • Hands-on experience with automation frameworks such as Cucumber, Selenium, Appium, and Playwright.
  • Strong knowledge of SDLC, Agile methodologies, and CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps).
  • Experience with system, integration, regression, and UAT testing in complex environments.
  • Proficiency with tools such as Postman, JMeter, REST Assured, Swagger, and test management systems including JIRA and Azure Test Plans.
  • High-level analytical and problem-solving skills with proven ability to evaluate testing requirements in complex ICT environments.
  • Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills.
Highly Desirable
  • 3–6 years’ experience in software testing with a focus on integration and API testing.
  • Solid understanding of ICT systems, including infrastructure, networks, and databases.
  • Familiarity with application lifecycle management and system integration.
