Initial 12 Month
Daily Rate: $150 - $180 per hour + super
Location – Canberra
 
DFP Recruitment is seeking a Capability Delivery Director for our state government Client.
The Director, Capability Delivery is a senior leadership role responsible for the successful planning and execution of project delivery within the program. This role ensures that projects align with approved tranche plans, deliver anticipated benefits, and meet organisational objectives. The Director will oversee the development and implementation of necessary resources, skills, processes, and technologies essential for project success.
 
Primary purpose of the role
 
  • Guiding the future direction of business operations, including service delivery to the community
  • Strategic direction, policy, and standards for whole of government ICT
  • improving whole of government ICT investment management
  • Integration of Government services to make it more convenient for citizens and businesses to connect and do business with the government.
  • Driving the use of data to inform evidence-based decision making, leading to delivery of better services for citizens, and building a sustainable data capability.
  • Delivering end user services for all Government directorates and agencies.
  • Managing and maintaining several whole of government business systems and maintaining technology infrastructure.
  • Undertaking research and analysis to support strategic policy advice on current and emerging ICT and digital policy issues and initiatives.
  • Shaping and sponsoring the development of digital capability at a whole of government level.
  • Lead the Capability Delivery function within HRM and ensure successful execution of projects by identifying, developing, and delivering products and services required for the program.
  • Manage delivery and maintain the integrated master schedule through various program tranches and ensure outputs are achieved effectively in a timely manner.
  • Maintain high standards throughout the delivery process.
  • Defining Capability: Outline project deliverables and services.
  • Planning Delivery: Organise delivery in tranches with a focus on iterative value delivery.
  • Executing Delivery: Implement new systems, processes, and organisational changes.
  • Monitoring and Controlling Delivery: Provide oversight, manage issues and risks, and escalate as needed.
  • Realising Benefits: Ensure delivered capabilities are utilised to achieve desired outcomes.
 
Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in project management and delivery, preferably in a senior leadership role.
  • Strong understanding of MSP (Managing Successful Programs) methodology and processes.
  • Experience with program artefacts and quality assurance frameworks.
  • Excellent leadership, team management, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage complex projects and coordinate across multiple functional areas.
  • Strong risk management and problem-solving abilities.
