Job description

Our client is seeking an experience Civil Design Officer for a 12-month contract in their Midland WA office.

Position: Civil Design Officer 

Salary: $94,386.53 to $112,499.22 (depending on the candidate’s skills and experience)
Contract Term: 12 months 

Commencement: 5 January 2026
Location: Midland  
Hours: Full-time - 38 hours a week 
Note: Working hours between 7:00am and 5:00pm, with flexibility to meet operational needs. 

Role Context
The Civil Design Officer reports to the Senior Designer in their stream and is primarily responsible for the coordination and delivery of all detailed design works necessary for delivery of the annual Capital Works Program.
 
Key Responsibilities 
The Civil Design Officer will be responsible for designing smaller but still complex civil infrastructure projects, including: 
  • Roads 
  • Drainage 
  • Linemarking plans 
  • Carparks 
  • Ensuring all designs comply with relevant legislation, standards, and guidelines 

Applying specialist technical knowledge, particularly in: 
  • AustRoads design guidelines 
  • Main Roads WA guidelines 
  • Relevant Australian Standards 
  • Preparing detailed Bills of Quantities at each stage of the design process 
  • Reviewing and checking their own designs prior to Senior Civil Designer review 
  • Delivering designs on time, within budget, and to the required quality 
  • Liaising with internal and external stakeholders, providing accurate and unbiased technical advice, and responding to enquiries in a timely and professional manner
