Job description

The Organisation: 
Our Federal Government client is seeking an experienced Contract Management Officer to support research contract activities, commencing as soon as possible. They can provide flexible work arrangements with a combination of Office based work in Edinburgh and working from home.  

A BASELINE security clearance will be required initially to allow access to Defence systems and information. An NV1 clearance may be required to be obtained at a later stage for unescorted access within Defence facilities. 
This Federal Government Department works closely with Australian Universities and industry to strategically leverage and develop expertise and facilities to support the development of Defence capability. 

The Role: 
 
Working within the Science and Technology Group, the Contract Management Officer – EL1 will provide operational support to Scientific and Technical (S&T) personnel and undertake the processing and implementation of research related contracts and agreements with Universities, Publicly Funded Research Agencies and other bodies.  
The role will responsible for generating and delivering briefing material, reports and other correspondence related to industry engagement along with the establishment of external agreements from initiation to execution.  
The Contract Management Officer will be required to develop strong internal relationships and support divisional industry and university alliance relationship managers and staff to execute their external engagement program.

To be successful, you will be a great communicator, able to pick up new jargon and an appreciation of the business environment.  
 
You will be able to demonstrate: 
  • Experience in Contract development and drafting or 
  • Experience in Procurement in Government (Local, State or Federal) 
  • Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills 
  • Experience in account management 
  • Accurate, strong administration experience 
  • Computer savvy, with intermediate to advanced MS Suite skills 
  • Legal or Paralegal background - desirable 
  • Experience with University research agreements – desirable
