Job description

We are seeking Junior UI designer with a passion for UI to help our client in implementing the website redesign and build exciting new visualisations.
Multiple Positions - Assignment with Federal Government
Hybrid work arrangement in Canberra Office
Contract Term: ASAP start until 30 June 2024

Our Federal Government client contributes to Australia's economic prosperity and social well-being by creating opportunities and driving better outcomes for people by participating in the design and development of the Government Enterprise Resource Planning (GovERP) project.
 
About the role
This is an exciting entry-level design role and suitable candidate will be joining the digital team who are responsible for building front-end visualisations, interactive apps, and other digital products across the Federal government commission. The candidate will be placed in a supportive, friendly, creative cultural environment with a diverse team from a range of different backgrounds. You shall be encouraged to contribute your unique skills and value add to the team’s efforts. It will be an excellent opportunity to contribute your ideas to the design process and be strongly committed to helping the department and the team to succeed in deliver.

For this role of junior UI designer, you will be required to:
  • Work under the guidance of the Interaction Designer and collaborate with team members on a range of projects, such as website redevelopment and data integration, interactive web components and data dashboards.
  • Understand and implement brand and style guidelines to create consistent interface.
  • Understand the requirements of a design brief and follow instructions to accurately implement templates.
  • Work on tools such as Figma and Balsami.
  • Open to take clients feedback to iterativeimprove.
  • Show initiative, responsibility, and good judgement in delivering the work brief.
Skills and Experience
Applicants must be an Australian citizen to be eligible for this position.
  • Has excellent communication, interpersonal skills and has an aptitude for collaboration and negotiation with a broad range of stakeholders within Federal government.
  • Facilitating change readiness, has a high attention to detail, be creative and a focus on delivery in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong eye for detail and ability to follow brief and directions for implementing new design templates.
  • Ability to work both independently and under supervision in a cross-functional, diverse team.
  • Be familiar with UI design techniques and knowledge of basic design principles such as UCD, prototyping and concept-testing
  • Capability to perform the role as stated in the responsibilities and support the website design team.
  • Experience working with public sector agencies, research or communication organisations will be desirable.
  • Experience in working on projects using Agile methodology will be desirable.
