Senior Project Officer Classification
Location: Fremantle, Metropolitan WA
Contract Type: Full-time, 6-month temp contract
The Senior Project Officer delivers targeted project, data, reporting and governance functions that enhance organisational readiness and operational capability ahead of high-threat periods. The role develops data governance frameworks, operational reporting tools, governance systems and key documentation to strengthen decision-making, financial oversight and operational preparedness.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
Data Governance and Reporting
- Interpret the Western Australian Information Management Framework to develop a practical and tailored Information Management Framework for the business area.
- Liaise with data and analytics specialists to establish reporting tools, dashboards and data processes.
- Enable self-service reporting capability to support emergency operations.
- Coordinate reporting against salary and non-salary expenditure using consistent and repeatable financial and performance reporting tools.
- Monitor expenditure against budgets, including developing tools, business improvement initiatives and financial reports.
- Work with internal teams to consolidate financial information and inform the overall financial position.
- Liaise with relevant financial governance committees to ensure accuracy and consistency of financial reporting.
- Contribute to financial reform initiatives through data insights, process improvements and governance recommendations.
- Document data processes, definitions and quality controls to support accurate and consistent reporting.
- Develop and embed Knowledge and Information Management documentation including Directorate Instructions, guidance materials and Quick Reference Guides, including those related to operational allowances.
- Assist in developing and maintaining governance registers, including decisions and actions.
- Ensure all documentation aligns with organisational and public sector governance standards.
- Coordinate project tasks and deliverables to support operational preparedness.
- Contribute to project planning, risk identification, tracking and reporting.
- Prepare briefings, reports and supporting documentation for senior leaders and internal stakeholders.
- Provide timely advice to leaders on project progress, risks, dependencies and recommended mitigation strategies.
- Work collaboratively across internal operational teams to support integrated project delivery.
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders, including data, finance, human resources and operational teams.
- Facilitate workshops and working sessions to clarify requirements, gather insights and build capability.
- Communicate clearly and provide support to enable the adoption of new systems, tools and processes.
Desirable Work-Related Requirements
- Knowledge of data governance and business intelligence practices.
- Understanding of public sector finance, budgeting processes and award-based allowances.
- Satisfactory National Criminal Record Check.
- Ability to work outside normal business hours during emergency or high-pressure periods.
- Ability to travel intrastate, if required.
