About the Role:
An opportunity is available for an experienced Mine Geologist to join a site‑based geology team at a well‑established open pit mining operation in Western Australia. This role plays a critical part in delivering optimal ore grade to the processing plant through accurate geological interpretation, grade control, and supervision of ore extraction activities.
This is a hands‑on, operational role suited to a geologist who enjoys working closely with mining, drilling, and processing teams to maximise value and maintain high safety and quality standards.

About the Role:
An opportunity is available for an experienced Mine Geologist to join a site‑based geology team at a well‑established open pit mining operation in Western Australia. This role plays a critical part in delivering optimal ore grade to the processing plant through accurate geological interpretation, grade control, and supervision of ore extraction activities.
This is a hands‑on, operational role suited to a geologist who enjoys working closely with mining, drilling, and processing teams to maximise value and maintain high safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead by example in safety performance, actively contributing to a strong safety culture and ensuring all incidents are reported in line with site systems
- Design and manage ore blocks in accordance with established ore classification protocols
- Coordinate and support ore mark‑up activities to ensure clear identification of ore and waste
- Supervise ore extraction, including ore spotting and correct stockpile allocation
- Conduct highwall, floor, and active face mapping
- Plan and supervise grade control, resource development, and exploration drilling programs
- Ensure drill programs are set out ahead of schedule to minimise downtime
- Log RC chips and diamond core to a high standard
- Manage ROM and stockpiles, including tracking tonnes and grade and contributing to blending strategies
- Generate regular stockpile and production reports
- Assist with geological data analysis, interpretation, and modelling using industry‑standard software
- Contribute to end‑of‑month reconciliation and reporting
- Maintain geological databases and QAQC standards
- Identify and drive continuous improvement initiatives that add operational value
- Provide guidance and support to graduate geologists as part of the broader geology team
Qualifications:
- Tertiary qualification in Geology
- Current Western Australian C‑Class Driver’s Licence
- Completion of an introductory QAQC theory course
- Previous experience in open pit mining operations
- Proven capability in grade control and/or exploration program planning and drill supervision
- Experience with end‑of‑month ROM and mill reconciliation
- Strong background in ore spotting, stockpile management, and quality control
- Solid experience using Surpac and Microsoft Office
- Exposure to geological databases such as Datashed or AcQuire
- Good understanding of QAQC standards and grade control processes
- Knowledge of RC and diamond drilling practices
- Familiarity with safety, environmental, and risk management systems in a mining environment
- High level of enthusiasm and accountability
- Strong attention to detail and data quality
