Pacific Senior Data Developer.
The Opportunity:
Our Government client is looking for a Senior Data Developer.
This is a contract role starting as an initial 9-month contract with another 6-month extension afterwards, paying $580 per day plus 11% Super' and is based in the CBD.
This is a hybrid role with a very flexible & collaborative working environment.
As this role is within the Federal Government, applicants are required to be Australian Citizens for this position.
The Role:
The Pacific Senior Database Developer will be part of the Senior Development team and will contribute to the development of a new data management system.
The main requirements of role will be maintaining and enhancing the Data Management System to better manage and gauge data. The task will also involve formatting and archiving manual and automated data, development of manual and automated quality control and provision of basic products for their stakeholders.
1. Maintain the DMS software and undertake further development of the DMS in accordance with 2022/23 and future work plans.
2. Install the DMS and associated software on appropriate hardware and on cloud systems. Maintain data back-ups on cloud systems.
3. Assist with the rescue and/or archival of the data and format data to the DMS requirements.
4. Develop relevant DMS administrator training and reference material for the internal employees, as well as contribute to the delivery of this training.
5. Provide and maintain technical documentation, working with project team members, partner countries, and international collaborators.
6. Be aware of, and apply as necessary, the principles and practices of the various elements of the Companies Social Justice Strategy.
About you:
Candidates must be able to demonstrate:
1. Demonstrated working knowledge and experience in the design, development and coding of web database applications using a variety of Open Source and Commercial technologies, particularly Linux (Ubuntu), PostgreSQL, Python, HTML/PHP and JavaScript, Also experience with Amazon Web Services, Apache, Bootstrap would be highly regarded.
2. Experience developing IT and DMS specific training and reference material for developing countries, as well as experience delivering this type of training.
3. Experience in the evaluation and analysis of spatio-temporal datasets originating from manual and automated Pacific observations.
4. Sound inter-personal skills are required, and the ability to liaise with a range of different personnel from within the organisation, regional and international research organisations, and the 15 partner countries and territories. Demonstrated team working skills and experience of working in a team framework are essential.
