Job description

Our client is seeking an experienced Purchasing Advisor for a 6-month casual contract with possible extension and/or permanency in their Leederville office.

Purchasing Advisor

Rate: $60-$80 per hour plus Super (depending on relevant experience and suitability for the role)

Start Date: ASAP (notice periods considered)
Duration: 6 months, with potential for extension/permanency (after a permanent recruitment process)
Hours: Full-time – 38 hours per week
Location: Leederville, WA

Type: Temporary casual contract (no leave entitlements – casual loading included in rate)

About the role:
The Procurement services team is looking for an experienced Purchasing Advisor to provide comprehensive procurement services to the Corporation. This includes strategic sourcing, purchasing and expediting of a broad range of goods and services (predominantly goods) to agreed standards and specifications.

What the role will involve:
  • Review and verify the adequacy of shopping carts received for the acquisition of goods and services to ensure that they are accurate
  • Review Robotic generated purchase orders ensuring information is accurate prior to releasing purchase orders.
  • Solicit bids for the acquisition of goods and services as required and prepare recommendations for approval.
  • Identify and establish preferred and pre-qualified suppliers.
  • Purchase goods and services as required to established standards and specifications, ensuring value for money principles are applied.
  • Actively negotiate product savings with suppliers and investigate process improvement opportunities.
  • Liaise with manufacturers, contractors and suppliers to resolve matters relating to timely delivery of goods. and services.
  • Ensure that data entered into the Corporation’s SRM e-procurement and SAP MM Systems is accurate, complete and reliable.
  • Provide hands on education and training to customers in the use of SRM e-Procurement and SAP MM.
Key skills and experience:
  • Considerable Procurement experience in a large multi-disciplined engineering focussed commercial organisation.
  • Considerable experience and demonstrated capability in supplier/contractor evaluation and product evaluation specifically with goods procurement.
  • Relevant experience and demonstrated capability in the use of computer based Procurement systems.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of contemporary Procurement theory and practice, including sound understanding of electronic trading applications and processes.
  • Demonstrate ability to prioritise effort, effectively lead and influence.
  • The ability to effectively communicate with and influence key stakeholders and develop strong working relationships within the corporation.
Essential Appointment Criteria
Qualifications and Experience
  • Substantial procurement experience in a large multi-disciplined engineering focused commercial organisation.
  • Considerable experience and demonstrated capability in supplier/contractor evaluation and product evaluation.
  • Considerable experience and demonstrated capability in the use of computer-based Procurement systems.
  • Considerable Contract Management knowledge and or experience
  • Ability to obtain a clean National Police Clearance before commencement of role
  • Willing to undergo a Drug and Alcohol Screening before commencement of role
Knowledge, Skills & Attributes
  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of contemporary Procurement theory and practice, including sound understanding of electronic trading applications and processes.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of relevant Procurement regulatory requirements and codes of practice.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of and capability in the principles and practices of business communications and stakeholder relationship management.
  • Ability to participate as a member of multi-disciplined teams to foster sound relationship management and to enhance joint business capability.
  • Demonstrate good computing skills, including ability to use Microsoft suite of systems and demonstrate the capability to learn and apply the Corporation’s suite of business computing applications.

  • Current National Police Clearance or ability to obtain if successful
  • Willing to underdo Drug and Alcohol Screening if successful
