The Role:
The Senior Data Analyst’s role is to support the Director, Aged Care Accommodation section to develop data analysis and management solutions using Microsoft (MS) Excel, that support the section’s operational requirements.
You will be responsible for supporting the timely and accurate completion of Refundable Accommodation Deposit (RAD) assessments, including verifications and conditional approvals. Your work will involve mapping data sources and processes, developing analytics to address reporting and policy queries, and implementing solutions for data management and quality assurance. You will contribute to internal and external reporting, assist with the development of future data strategies, and support ad hoc requirements for the Accommodation section and wider Aged Care Policy branch. Your efforts will help ensure efficient, reliable, and responsive data practices to meet operational needs.
Key responsibilities include:
- Consult with the team to understand and analyse current data holdings (stored in MS Access Database) to respond to policy questions and develop timely internal and external reporting.
- Foster collaboration among the section and branch to develop policies and procedures to enable replication of queries and/or formulae after the contract concludes.
- Work with other data analysts to review the current analytical matrix and recommend revisions that support improved analysis about price comparisons.
- Develop and present timely and quality technical papers for presentation to various audiences including advisory committees and Executive, as required.
- Provide expert advice and support as required within the Aged Care Accommodation section and Aged Care Policy Branch.
- Excellent technical and analytical skills and experience in mathematics, data analysis and data interpretation with a high attention to detail.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills, including the ability to support delivery of a range of competing tasks and priorities within a busy team environment.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the data analytics life cycle and how it is embedded in an organisation’s way of working.
- People and leadership skills including the ability to articulate organisational and functional objectives, and operational priorities.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, including the ability to communicate (in writing and verbally) technical issues successfully to a non-technical audience.
- Ability to work independently to deliver timely and quality outcomes.
- Qualifications in mathematics, statistics will be highly regarded.
- Experience in mathematical or statistical analysis and experience using SAS, SQL, MS Excel or Python data science libraries is desirable.
- Experience in MS Access Database will also be well regarded
