Our Federal Government Client is an independent agency that promotes efficiency and increased transparency in the delivery and funding of public health and aged care services across Australia.
 
The Costing Analytics Section provides analytical support on the analysis of cost related activities in both hospital and aged care. The Costing Analytics section also works in collaboration with other teams within the Agency to develop innovative methods for the analysis of cost data for public hospital services, evidence driven national health policies, alternative health care funding models, aged care services and classification systems.

The Role:

The EL1 Technical Manager – Costing Analytics is required to coordinate and manage multiple priorities within defined timeframes and ensuring results.
This position is located within the Costing and Data Infrastructure branch. The Branch has responsibilities including cost collections, developing costing standards and data specifications, and managing data acquisition, access and storage.
 
Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
  • Being accountable to the section Director for major projects undertaken by the section and supporting the Director to deliver work plan priorities.
  • Managing staff and section resources.
  • Understanding and analysing data collected from aged care and hospital services
  • Providing input into the development of cost models for aged care and hospital services
  • Providing specialist advice to various working groups, managing relationship, and working with stakeholders on technical issues
Key capabilities include:
  • Technical Mangers will require demonstrated ability to undertake projects in an uncertain environment.
  • Strong technical and analytical skills, with high attention to detail. Experience in mathematical or statistical analysis and model development
  • Demonstrated experience in developing clear and efficient code preferably using SAS, SQL or Python to understand and analyse data.
  • Capacity to conduct sound analyses in an environment dominated by policy and stakeholder constraints. Ability to adopt a pragmatic approach to analysis and deliver results accordingly
  • Demonstrated experience in contributing to a high performing multi-disciplinary team
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate complex technical information that is appropriate for a range of audiences
  • Critical Thinking skills, including the ability to develop and assess the quality and applicability of complex analysis and modelling.
Highly Desirable
  • Experience in mathematics, statistics, econometric, or actuarial sciences, including data analysis and pricing model development is highly desirable. Experience using SAS, SQL, Python, and Microsoft Excel is also desirable.
