Job description

Our State Government client is seeking an experienced AO5 Asset Manager to join their team on an initial six-month contract, with the potential for extension. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to the effective management of a large and diverse government-owned office accommodation portfolio.

The Role

Reporting to the Principal Asset Manager, you will be responsible for managing office accommodation assets and associated programs, applying best practice asset management principles to support the service delivery needs of government agencies. You will provide expert advice, oversee projects, and ensure assets are managed efficiently, sustainably, and in line with contemporary government initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide asset management expertise, advice and training to internal and external stakeholders
  • Deliver specialist input and project management guidance for major and minor works projects
  • Manage revenue and expenditure, contribute to budget planning and maximise portfolio returns
  • Ensure assets align with organisational strategies, policies and risk frameworks
  • Conduct property inspections in accordance with asset management principles (some travel required)
  • Contribute to policy development, strategies and broader departmental objectives
  • Prepare high-quality reports, briefing notes, correspondence and submissions
  • Represent the agency at meetings, forums and stakeholder engagements

Skills & Experience
  • Demonstrated experience applying best practice asset management across complex property portfolios
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret, present and recommend property data outcomes
  • Proven experience managing projects and programs within time and budget constraints
  • Ability to understand the strategic role of property assets in supporting government priorities
  • Highly developed communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Adaptable, solutions-focused and able to negotiate positive outcomes
