Legal Support Officer
APS Level 3 | Labour Hire Contract (up to 6 months)

$45–$50 per hour + Super
An opportunity is available for an experienced Legal Support Officer to join a respected Commonwealth agency within a high-performing legal services environment in Perth.
This APS Level 3 contract role will suit an organised, detail-oriented professional who thrives in structured, fast-paced settings and enjoys supporting complex legal matters that contribute to upholding Commonwealth law.
About the Role
Reporting to the Coordinator, Legal Support Services, you will provide administrative and litigation support to legal practice groups. Working under general direction, you will deliver efficient and contemporary support services using digital litigation tools and legal practice management systems.
This is a hands-on role requiring sound judgement, strong organisational capability and the ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining accuracy and confidentiality.
Key Responsibilities
You will be joining a national legal services organisation that plays a critical role in upholding Commonwealth law. The work is meaningful, complex and contributes directly to the protection of the Australian community.
The broader team provides high-quality litigation and administrative support services across multiple practice areas, working closely with legal professionals to ensure effective case preparation and delivery.

Key Responsibilities
- Create and administer case files, including records management, data entry and document control
- Draft routine correspondence and emails using approved templates
- Coordinate witnesses, prepare summons/subpoenas and arrange court-related logistics
- Prepare and lodge court documentation, including deliveries and collections
- Arrange travel, video conferencing, interpreters and translators
- Conduct basic research and respond to general queries in line with established procedures
- Liaise professionally with prosecutors, counsel, courts and external agencies
- Manage workload priorities to ensure deadlines are consistently met
- Experience delivering administrative or support services in a government and/or legal environment
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established procedures
- Sound research and analytical capability
- The ability to exercise judgement within defined guidelines
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills
Personal integrity, discretion and a collaborative mindset - Adaptability and resilience in a dynamic operational environment
- Australian Citizenship (mandatory)
- Ability to obtain and maintain an AGSVA Baseline Security Clearance
- Experience in a legal or public sector environment is highly desirable
